                                                                               Smart Wiring

Smart Wiring is the standard home wiring system that lets you combine phone & fax lines, pay TV cabling, sound, computer and Internet connections, intelligent lighting, security, and much more, at the one time and it gives the flexibility to add and change in the future without expensive re-wiring costs.
Installed by just one Smart Wired™ accredited technician not teams of specialists, Smart Wiring is designed to suit both budget and lifestyle. Smart Wiring is an industry backed wiring system used to deliver telecommunications and TV services right throughout the home
Telstra is installing a new technology for the connection of Telstra services. This technology is called Telstra Velocity
Telstra Velocity largely supports entertainment and telecommunication services without the need for unsightly external antennas and satellite dishes on houses. Many additions to the home entertainment and telecommunication services can be made using the existing wiring systems, especially where Smart Wiring has been utilised. Through the Smart wiring home wiring system and the Telstra Velocity network, installing new  technologies is as simple as changing a setting on the home wired control panel. No more digging up gardens, nature strips, pulling off roofs or destroying plaster. The home and the surrounds are perfectly maintained as new technologies are connected.

Smart Wiring™ is the home wiring solution that enables you to maximise the Telstra Velocity network and all the technology that Telstra’s fibre-based product delivers. Smart Wiring your home at the building stage will enable you to not only connect to great services and products easily and efficiently, but also allow future products to be more easily connected to your home.

Smart Wiring packages start at around $2000, but a number of factors will affect the cost, including the number of rooms that are connected. The cost of home automation, audio, security, smart lighting and computer network hardware will vary depending on quality. Smart Wiring during renovations is the next best thing to Smart Wiring during construction.
Smart Wiring has become one of the hottest commodities in new homes. A recent Australian survey by the Housing Industry Association showed that the installation of Smart Wiring in new homes had nearly doubled in just two years.

                                                                               Telstra Velocity

Telstra is installing a new technology for the connection of Telstra services. This technology is called Telstra Velocity™ Telstra Velocity is used to describe the supply of telecommunications services to customers' premises using optical fibre instead of the traditional copper cable.
Whilst optical fibre has been used for many years, this is the first time Telstra has used this method to supply services all the way to a customer's home. A single optical fibre supplies the home with telephone, broadband data and digital TV services.

                                                                 Wireless technology in the Home.

Wireless technology in the home does serve a purpose, but the market is confused where the application should be used, we are all aware of the problems associated with wireless technology, security, reliability and bandwidth.  But what do these things mean to the home owner. We all know that wireless systems if not set up properly can be easily hacked but some industry experts believe any wireless systems can be hacked leaving the home insecure, in regard to bandwidth,(the amount of information that can be reticulated around the home) the home in the near future will require more information and bandwidth than the office, many believe that wireless technology will never cope with the bandwidth required in the home.  Reliability is another concern, there are many other products that can interfere with your wireless system, e.g. Telephone systems, construction issues and so on.
If you speak to an industry expert they will tell you that wireless does have a place in the home but it should be run in hybrid with your Smart Wired system giving you the best of both worlds.
